Dr Miguel de Lucas is a Senior Adviser at Deltares in the Netherlands. He holds an MSc in Hydraulic Engineering from UPM of Madrid and TU Delft, and a PhD in fine sediment dynamics from the TU Delft. During his PhD, Dr de Lucas began to study feedbacks between biotic and abiotic factors in the context of fine sediment transport. The latter materialised into commercial research projects at his subsequent position in Deltares where he leads the BESMART Technologies research team.
