Hans Bekendam
Hans Bekendam graduated in 1984 as a Civil Engineer, and worked for several years in the pipeline industry before joining Van Oord in 1991. Since then he has been employed for seven years on pipeline and coastal construction projects worldwide. More recently he was area coordinator and Project Manager for the Montpellier Outfall Project. Presently he is working as Contract Manager Soils&Shores from the main office of Van Oord in Rotterdam.

The increasing population in the Montpellier, France environment required a new waste water treatment plan. Studies indicated that for maximum safety the sea outfall should be placed 11 km off the coast - an enormous length to lay an outfall pipe.
