Joris van Mieghem graduated in 1971 with a MSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Ghent, Belgium. Since then he has worked in the Flemish Ministry of Infrastructure where he is presently Chief Engineer Director of the department Sea Scheldt. He is responsible for dredging and reclamation works on the Left Bank harbour extension of Antwerp
