Daan Heineke graduated in 1980 with an MSc in Civil Engineering form Delft University of Technology (Netherlands). He worked for over 20 years for an engineering consultancy firm before joining Rijkswaterstaat (Centre for Public Works) of the Ministery of Transport, Public Works and Water Management as a senior advisor in the field of hydraulic engineering. As a senior engineer he has been involved in many coastal engineering projects in various countries, such as Indonesia, Netherlands Antilles, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates and Egypt. Recently he was involved in the production of the New Rock Manual as member of the Technical Editorial Team.
