After receiving a PhD in civil engineering from Northwestern University, Illinois, USA in 1991 and spending a year as a post-doctoral fellow in the same institute, Prof. Choong-Ki Chung joined the faculty of civil engineering at Seoul National University (SNU) in 1992. He is in charge of the SNU soil mechanics laboratory and has performed research on engineering properties by lab and field testing. In addition, he is interested in developing GIS-based a geotechnical information system and field monitoring system.
