IADC Workshop on Environmental Aspects of Dredging

Course on Environmental Aspects of Dredging

Learning objectives

This two-day course provides an overview of the environmental aspects of dredging, the latest technology and equipment that apply to dredging and the management of dredged material. The seminar includes presentations and workshops.

What's the course about

By its very nature, the act of dredging and relocating dredged material has an environmental impact. It is therefore of the utmost importance that we should be able to determine what the extent of the impact may be on our environment. Evaluation of environmental impact should examine both the short- and long-term effects, as well as the sustainability of the altered environment.

In addition to presentations of the subjects, participants are challenged in case studies to apply the principals discussed in order to get a full understanding of the scope and importance of the environmental aspects of dredging projects, the management of dredged material and the typical legislative conditions and controls imposed by international conventions and regional agencies.

Participants Profiles

The training course is aimed at:

  • consultants in dredging related industries;
