These Conditions of Contract have been prepared by FIDIC in close collaboration with the International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC), and are recommended for dredging and reclamation work.
The aim has been to produce a straightforward document which includes all essential commercial provisions, and which may be used for all types of dredging and reclamation work and ancillary construction with a variety of administrative arrangements. Under the usual arrangements for this type of contract, the Contractor constructs the Works in accordance with design provided by the Employer or by his Engineer. However, this form may also be suitable for contracts that include, or wholly comprise, contractor-designed works. In addition, the Employer has a choice of valuation methods.
IADC is currently working on a translation of the second edition in Russian, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and German.

Dredged Sediments Management in Italy: Legal Aspects

Dredged sediment management is a much debated issue in Italy; especially, in recent times, in court. Talking about management firstly means to qualify sediments in the correct way: are they waste or freely manageable materials? The answer is not simple and, being aware of that, the Italian legislator repeatedly intervened, from 2006 to 2012, with laws and regulations in order to offer legal certainties to the interested parties. Unfortunately, this goal doesn’t seem to have been reached...
