Dredging for Sustainable Infrastructure Conference

Dredging for Sustainable Infrastructure India

How can dredging be sustainable? This is the overarching question which will be explored at the IADC Dredging for Sustainable Infrastructure Conference on Friday 18 October 2019 at the Leela Palace Hotel in New Delhi, India.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to network with more than 60 CEOs and board members of IADC member companies and their guests. Therefore, you are also welcome at our special pre-conference networking drink/dinner on Thursday 17 October 2019 at 7:00 PM in the Grand Ballroom of the Leela Palace Hotel.

We are now finalising the programme but we are very happy that we already can announce that the Ocean Engineering Department of IIT Madras has confirmed to speak about the challenges in your region.

In the upcoming weeks we will announce more names of presenters and keynote speaker. To receive more information about the conference in India, please fill out the form at 'More information / pre-register'.

About the conference

Theory becomes practice

At this conference, new avenues towards the development of sustainable water infrastructure will be explored, and translated to your own project context. Experience first-hand what it means to apply this new approach in practice. The four key enablers to ensure success will be discussed, including the issues of stakeholder engagement, valuation of ecosystem benefits, adaptive management of dredging projects and the beneficial use of dredged materials. The conference’ speakers and inspiring sessions will be centred around the philosophy of the recently launched guidebook Dredging for Sustainable Infrastructure.

At this 1-day conference, you will experience what it means to apply this new approach in practice. New avenues towards the development of sustainable water infrastructure will be explored, and translated to your own project context. Key enablers to make this happen will be discussed, including the issues of stakeholder engagement, valuation of ecosystem benefits, adaptive management of dredging projects and beneficial use of dredged materials. Meet professionals from the industry, consultancies, government agencies, port authorities, research institutes and NGO’s all facing similar challenges in their search for better projects.

About the Book

The book Dredging for Sustainable Infrastructure gives state-of-the-art guidance on how to design, implement, and manage a water infrastructure project with a dredging component to project owners, regulators, consultants, designers and contractors. The presented insights result from a wealth of up-to-date knowledge pooled by an international team of scientists and practicing industry experts. The publication’s information has been moderated by an Editorial Board comprised of CEDA and IADC representatives.

The book gives answers to the following questions:

  • What is the role of dredging in the global drive for more sustainable development?
  • How can we design and implement more sustainable and resilient water infrastructure that aligns with the natural and socio-economic system?
  • How can we assess and stimulate the potential positive effects of infrastructure development and compare these with the potential negative effects?
  • What equipment and which sediment management options do we have?
  • What knowledge and tools do we have to make sound choices and control the project?
